Mattie James — A Connected Brand & Digital Experience

A creator-led business needed a consistent experience across its website, educational products, launch campaigns, and weekly content. My work connected those touchpoints through hands-on design and production.

What I owned.

My contribution spanned website design and implementation, course presentations and workbooks, campaign graphics, video and podcast editing, reusable templates, and practical recommendations for publishing and launch workflows. I worked with Mattie’s content and direction, alongside a wider creative and operations team.

One brand, many places to show up.

Mattie’s business extended beyond a blog: readers could discover her through fashion and lifestyle content, listen to a podcast, watch YouTube videos, join an email list, or enroll in a course. Each touchpoint needed to feel connected.

I joined the team as a creative assistant focused on video and podcast editing and support for flat lay shoots. The documented work expanded into web design, educational products, launch assets, and ongoing marketing design.

Bring the brand together on the web.

I designed and implemented the Showit website with a WordPress blog, developing desktop and mobile layouts across the main brand and editorial destinations. The work included Home, About, FAQ, Team, Contact, and email signup experiences for The M List and Mattie Minute.

The review process covered typography, image selection, navigation, page hierarchy, and mobile details such as a signup area being cut off by the footer. I also handled later blog-page refinements.

The original full website captures have not been recovered for this archive. The media-kit page below contains historical examples of the blog, video, and podcast touchpoints.

Turn expert content into usable learning materials.

I worked from Mattie’s course content to format presentations, workbooks, worksheets, and supporting graphics. The aim was to make the material consistent across what students watched, read, and used during a class.

The records include Pitch Please presentation/workbook and ScreenFlow work; Instafluence module presentations, recorded course material, and a delivered Module 2 workbook; Style Blogging School presentations and Teachable support; BlogBreakthrough workbook and sales-page graphics; and ContentGPS presentation production.

Ready Set Blog also appears in course-page and promotional assignments. The exact deliverable mix differed by course; I distinguish delivered files from assignments when describing the archive.

Design the journey around the event.

A launch involved more than a promotional image. My work connected campaign graphics with registration, confirmation, live webinar pages, presentation materials, and the next offer.

For VisualValue, the correspondence documents social graphics, a presentation, and a live webinar page delivered for review. For BatchPlease, the records include promotional graphics, a presentation, a thank-you page, and a live page with chat and video.

Other campaign records include MakeYourMark, InboxWeTrust, 2020Content, Clickworthy Copy, The InstaWebinar, Instagram Power Hour Q&A, StyleBlogBiz, BlogPressKit, and The Brand-Aid. Their scopes range from assigned pages to delivered or approved graphics; they were separate launches rather than one identical package.

Carry the idea into each channel.

I adapted promotional artwork across Twitter, Instagram posts and Stories, Facebook ads, Pinterest, and email. The format changed while the offer and visual identity stayed recognizable.

For The Brand-Aid in 2018, the brief called for two Twitter graphics, three Instagram Stories, two Instagram posts, and two Facebook ads. Later task activity records completion. BlogPressKit wordmark and promotional graphics, Style Blogging School email banners, and Mattie Minute graphics also received approvals.

Make recurring publishing easier to repeat.

Beyond launches, I created and adapted assets for weekly blog posts, podcast episodes, email marketing, Pinterest, and YouTube. Reusable templates helped carry the brand through an ongoing publishing schedule.

The work included YouTube thumbnail templates, intros and end cards, Twitter/Facebook video templates, email banners, podcast promotion, and Mattieisms quote graphics. It also included adapting supplied social-media template bundles and workbook/content-upgrade templates.

Approved assets

Reusable patterns
Repeatable layouts for recurring episodes, blog content, quotes, and announcements.
Shared handoff

Support the smaller offers around the courses.

The project records also include Mattie Manuals sales-page and DPD-related work; FirstPaidKit promotional graphics; Slay Your 1K graphics and bonus materials; Style Blog Business Plan wordmark/graphics; Outfit Post Playbook wordmark work; and BOSS+BLOG wordmark samples.

These sat within the wider brand and educational product system. Records establish my involvement, but do not confirm every proposed asset or implementation reached launch.

Product presentation
Sales pages, wordmarks, promotional graphics, and supporting downloads.
Commerce support
Documented assignments around digital delivery and product-page setup.

Design continued into the edit.

Video work included fashion lookbooks, makeup tutorials, favorites, business videos, branded content, and promotional teasers. My contribution covered editing and finishing details such as titles, music, intros, end cards, thumbnails, and social cutdowns.

Named projects include Watch Me Wear looks, 3 Fall Wedding Outfits, Summer Nude Lipstick Combos, NARS Haul, makeup-remover videos, Dark Lip and Holiday Beat tutorials, November Favorites, 16 Things I Learned in 2016, a Pottery Barn Kids video and teaser, and a blogSPACE sales video and teaser.

Podcast work included audio editing, intro/outro treatment, uploading and formatting episodes, companion worksheets, and promotional graphics. The archive specifically documents episodes 81–87 and later podcast materials.

Give prospective partners a clear picture.

I handled later media-kit updates and received the 2018 brief to refresh the press kit and rate sheet with the new branding, photography, and current offerings. The recovered eight-page 2018 media kit provides original examples of that work.

The original 2016 media kit was created by Jillian Adriana. My later updates and redesign work are a separate contribution; the brand’s existing assets and templates remained part of the foundation.

Connect the production work to the business.

I researched gated-content options and proposed a funnel linking BatchPlease to ContentGPS. The recommendation outlined a lead magnet, an email learning sequence, feedback collection, and possible workbook and course offers. It was a strategy recommendation, not a verified implemented funnel.

Later working notes cover podcast production, the editorial calendar, blog/video publishing, content batching, and proposed journeys for followers who wanted to “look like me,” “live like me,” or “learn from me.”

These contributions show how I approached the relationship between design, content, and delivery. They are planning artifacts; I do not present them as measured operational improvements.

Platform research
Compared options for gated resources and subscription-based access.
Funnel recommendations
Outlined how educational content could lead into a paid offer.
Workflow planning
Connected content production, publishing responsibilities, and audience intent.

A sustained body of hands-on work.

This partnership brought web design, educational materials, launch campaigns, and ongoing content production into one body of work. The archived files and client reviews show tangible design and production across multiple years.

Mattie supplied content and creative direction; the wider team supported operations, copy, photography, styling, brand design, and production. My work built on that collaboration rather than replacing it.

The documented scope is strongest from 2016–2018. Earlier collaboration is referenced but not fully reconstructed here. Campaign revenue, conversion lift, and audience growth are not attributed to my work without project-specific measurement.
